Brooklyn Film Festival

Building an interactive AI experience to cut through the noise in a crowded field

The Challenge

How do you make a film festival stand out in the culture capital of the world?

New York City is home to over 20 major film festivals each year, and about 1600 galleries and museums. To help Brooklyn Film Festival stand out in a crowded cultural field, Havas CX and Havas Creative teamed up to create an integrated, AI-powered campaign experience that would cut through the noise while celebrating the incredible archive of past BFF winners – and even sell tickets to the festival.

The Outcome

“Art is Better when it Movies” celebrates nearly 30 years of independent film

The AI experience was a huge hit with users, driving sales and increasing engagement with the Brooklyn Film Festival website. The platform also serves as a permanent home for BFF’s filmmakers, furthering the organization’s mission to highlight free artistic expression.

How we did it

Bridging generative AI and real world experiences

Built on the hook “Art is Better when it Movies” through a series of playful films from Havas Creative, we launched a generative-AI web experience that analyzes a work of art and recommends a matching film from the BFF archive. The always-moving interface frames film clips inside sculptural cutouts while matching themes between the art and the film. Results deliver a witty summary explaining the connection, and a path to buy tickets.
